Gabriel, you were wondering why they crash. I'm not sure what to tell you but here's some info: I have a script (/usr/local/apps/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9/logs/check_restart_dead_tomcat.sh) that currently checks via cron every 10 minutes to see if there's a tomcat process running - if not, it starts tomcat. If it restarts or if it's on the hour it writes a note to a log (/usr/local/apps/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9/logs/check_restart_dead_tomcat.log ) Today, for example: webservices-1 - tomcat restarted 4 times Mon Nov 30 11:20:02 EST 2009 restarting tomcat Mon Nov 30 12:30:02 EST 2009 restarting tomcat Mon Nov 30 13:35:01 EST 2009 restarting tomcat Mon Nov 30 13:45:01 EST 2009 restarting tomcat webservices-2 - tomcat restarted 0 times webservices-3 - tomcat restarted 1 times I've been looking for something in catalina.out or other logs for info on what's going on when a restart happens. I've found some hs_err_pid files, but they don't match up with the restarts. For example, this one hs_err_pid32185.log on webservices-3 is from 11/20, there's no file from today. But in case it's useful here it is: http://maps.massgis.state.ma.us/temp/hs_err_pid32185.log
